Davenport Lodge School has been on its present site for over thirty years. Its character Victorian Lodge building has been the subject of many extensions and improvements the most recent being provision for a nursery, babies@davenportlodgeschool, adjacent to the school.
Davenport Lodge's quality brand of education developed over 40 years is now linked with a 35 place 0 - 3 year old provision which opened in January 2005. Our small scale stimulating nursery ensures babies and toddlers are cared for in a safe, bright and airy environment in a family friendly manner. Set in a conservation area, the site has the benefit of an excellent environmental resource in its tree lined garden, but also lends itself to good security in its residential setting.
Children are divided into the following age groups:-
- 6 weeks to 11 months
- 1 year to 1 year 11 months
- 2 to 2 years 11 months
This ground breaking initiative is a first for Coventry. Speaking about the new nursery, Mrs Martin the Principal of Davenport Lodge School said, "I cannot offer a large scale nursery but I can offer high quality care and standards which take into account the individual needs of babies and toddlers. The school's small unit gives parents a family atmosphere for their children where they can feel confident in the quality of care and education provided for each child. One step care and education based on the school's reputation for academic excellence is what is offered".
The nursery has a fully equipped kitchen. There is also a separate area for milk preparation. This is a sterile area where baby formula is stored and prepared. Health & Safety and hygiene are our top priorities and this is reflected in staff training. An induction meeting with parents will give an opportunity to discuss diet and bottle feeding with the Nursery Leader. The nursery's qualified chef prepares fresh food daily for weaning babies and growing toddlers. The emphasis is on healthy eating for all ages. Menus are displayed and market fresh vegetables are included on a daily basis.
Coventry City Council Environmental Health has awarded our catering premises the maximum 3 star rating following the latest Hygiene Inspection.
